History

The company was established in September 2013, in anticipation of its initial public offering on the London Stock Exchange in October 2013.[3] During the company's Annual General Meeting on 20 July 2022, it was announced that the holding company responsible for both Royal Mail and GLS would change its name to International Distributions Services. It was also suggested that the board of directors may look to separate GLS in order to distance the profitable company from Royal Mail, which are currently in negotiations with the CWU over both pay and future changes to ways of working.[4] The name change was filed with Companies House on 28 September 2022 and registered on 3 October.[5]
