Nowghan (Persian: نوغان), formerly Nowghan-e Sofla (نوغان سفلي), also Romanized as Nowghān-e Soflá and Nowghān Sofla; also known as Nowghān-e Pā’īn,[3] is a village in Karchambu-ye Shomali Rural District of Karchambu District, Buin Miandasht County, Isfahan province, Iran, and serves as capital of the district.[4] It had merged with the village of Nowghan-e Olya after the 2011 census and its name changed to Nowghan.

At the 2006 National Census, its population (as the total of its two constituent villages before the merger) was 308 in 79 households, when it was in the former Buin Miandasht District of Faridan County.[5] The following census in 2011 counted 264 people in 87 households.[6] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 195 people in 70 households,[2] by which time the district had been separated from the county in the establishment of Buin Miandasht County and the two villages had merged to become Nowghan.[4]
