Sandhya Raagam is an Indian-Tamil language television series starring Sandhya Jagarlamudi, Antara Swarnakar, VJ Thara, Rajeev Parameshwar and Akshaya Rao and Directed by Bramma Dev and N. Priyan. The serial shows the struggle of two sisters Janaki and Sandhiya.

It premiered on Zee Tamil from 9 October 2023 from Monday to Saturday at 19:00 (IST) and is also available on the digital platform ZEE5. This series was launched along with Nala Damayanthi.[1]

Plot

Sandhya Raagam is the story revolves around a small-town sibling Janaki and Sandhiya emotional bonds. And they face separation after marriage life. After losing her younger sister Sandhiya, Janaki is looked after Sandhiya's daughter Maya, whose family doesn't approve of Sandhiya's Marriage.

Production

Casting

VJ Thara and newcomer Antara Swarnakar were cast to play lead roles of Dhanalakshmi and Maya. VJ Thara to act in this series, she left the series Anna.[2] Actress Sandhya Jagarlamudi was cast as Janaki, the sister of Sandhiya, marking his return after Sun TV's Chandralekha. Akshaya Rao, known for her act in Kalaabha kadhalan was cast as Sandhiya in her television debut.[3]

Rajeev Parameshwar, Manush and Rajkamal were cast to play the prominent roles. Rajeev Parameshwar marking his return after Mouna Raagam. Surjith Kumar was cast as male lead,[4] marking his return after Namma Veetu Ponnu.[5]

Release

The first promo was released on 11 September 2023 featuring past story with elder sister's Janaki with her Family tell the story with song and revealing.[6] The second promo was shot in foreign and unveiled on 17 September 2023, featuring Sister's meeting and revealing the release date.[7] The third promo was unveiled on 25 September 2023, featuring Surjith Kumar, VJ Thara and Antara Swarnakar.[8]

The show started airing on Zee Tamil on 9 October 2023, replacing Amudhavum Annalakshmiyum time slot.

Promotion

Zee Tamil was promoted their new two fictions Nala Damayanthi[9] and including this series by making advertisement with actress Ramya Krishnan and this promo released on 29 September 2023.[10]
