Type species: Eolaxoporus hagdorni Thuy, 2013 (type by original designation).
Etymology: from Eos, the Greek goddess of the dawn, and from the Latin words laxus (wide) and porus (pore). In allusion to the fact that this genus represents one of the oldest members of the large-pored ophiacanthid lineages; gender masculine.
