Type locality: A natural well at Kaaje-Ru, 33°05'N, 48°36'E, near Baq-e-Loveh Oasis, Zagros Mountains, Iran.

Etymology: in honor of writer, explorer and television personality Anthony Smith (b. 1926), who took “great pains (some of them physical)” in collecting (“not without considerable difficulty”) type. (From The ETYFish Project)
