Etymology
From Proto-Hellenic *krāhōn, from Proto-Indo-European *ḱr̥h₂-s-n-, from the root *ḱerh₂- (“head”). Earlier comparisons with Sanskrit श्री (śrī, “beauty”) are semantically and phonologically problematic.[1]
