 <  89 90 91  >
    Cardinal : девяно́сто (devjanósto)
    Ordinal : девяно́стый (devjanóstyj)

Etymology

From Old East Slavic девѧносъто (devęnosŭto), likely inherited from Proto-Indo-European *h₁néwn̥(d)ḱomt (literally ninth ten), from *h₁néwn̥ (whence де́вять (dévjatʹ)) and *déḱm̥t (whence де́сять (désjatʹ)). The ending was likely influenced by съто (sŭto, hundred). Compare Latin nōnāgintā and Ancient Greek ἐνενήκοντα (enenḗkonta). This inherited form is unattested in other Slavic branches, which had re-formed the same compound from scratch as *devętь desętъ (literally nine tens).
