Etymology
From Old East Slavic съдоровие (sŭdorovie), здоровье (zdorovĭe) (1151), from Proto-Slavic *sъdorvьje, from *sъdòrvъ + *-ьje; synchronically analysable as здаро́вы (zdaróvy) + -е (-je). Cognate with Russian здоро́вье (zdoróvʹje), Ukrainian здоров'я (zdorovʺja), Polish zdrowie, Lower Sorbian strowje, Slovene zdravje, Serbo-Croatian здравље, Bulgarian здраве (zdrave), Macedonian здравје (zdravje), Old Church Slavonic съдравие (sŭdravie). In forms starting with z- assimilation by voicing after loss of ъ; in forms with s- the assimilation by voiceless (however it might have a different root).
