Etymology
From أَلْمَانِيَا (ʾalmāniyā, “Germany”), with the first quadriliteral conjugation implying the bestowing of a particular quality. Compare أَمْرَكَ (ʾamraka, “to Americanize, to make American”)، فَرْنَسَ (farnasa, “to Gallicize, to make French”), عَرَّبَ (ʿarraba, “to Arabize, to make Arab”), تَرَّكَ (tarraka, “to Turkify, to make Turkish”), هَوَّدَ (hawwada, “to Judaize, to make Jewish”).
