From Old Assamese চকু (coku), from Sanskrit চক্ষু (cákṣu), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *čákšuš (“eye”), from Proto-Indo-European *kʷékʷḱus. Cognate to Kamta চখু / cokhu, Sylheti ꠌꠃꠈ (souk), Bengali চোখ (cokh).
