By rebracketing of diminutives such as libellus (liber + -lus) or femella (femina + -lus), where the stem consonants -n- and -r- shifted to -l- by regressive assimilation; or diminutives of diminutives such as porcellus (porculus + -lus), ocellus (oculus + -lus).
