Etymology
From the older *enhadir (with <nh> /ŋ/),[1] from Old Portuguese ẽadir, from Latin in- (“in”) + addēre (“to add”), from Latin addēre, present active infinitive of addō. Cognate to Spanish añadir and to Old Portuguese (proper) emadir.[2]
