Hungarian

Etymology

Possibly from Proto-Uralic *luwe (bone)[1] + the suffix -b, used in an unusual diminutive function. Compare Northern Mansi лу and Finnish luu.

Alternately, from Proto-Uralic *lümpe (blade, flat part, width (of hand or foot))[2], akin to Selkup [script needed] (laamp).
