Etymology

From Proto-Albanian *tšel-, from Proto-Indo-European *kwel- 'to turn, twist'. Cognate to Ancient Greek πέλω (pélō, to be in motion), Tocharian A köllāš (bring), preterit śël, Old Norse hvel (wheel). Somehow, the archaic form has generated Arbëresh Albanian qellënj with an apparently conservative q-.
