From Proto-Slavic *voziti, from Proto-Indo-European *woǵʰéyeti, causative/iterative of *weǵʰ- (to transport). Cognate with Gothic 𐍅𐌰𐌲𐌾𐌰𐌽 (wagjan), English wedge and Ancient Greek ὀχέομαι (okhéomai, to be borne or carried).
