How to Get the Oculus App on Windows

This wikiHow teaches you how to get the Oculus App on a Windows computer. The Oculus App is required to configure your Oculus Rift VR headset and to download software for it. Currently, the Oculus Rift is only compatible with Windows PCs and is not available on Mac.

Steps

Go to https://www.oculus.com in a web browser. You can use any web browser on a Windows computer.

Click Rift. It's at the top of the web page in the black bar at the top towards the left. This displays a white bar with options for the Oculus Rift below the black bar at the top. The Oculus Rift is the only Oculus devices connects to your computer and requires a computer application.
- Before setting up your Oculus Rift, scroll down to the bottom of the "Overview" tab to see if your PC specs meet the minimum requirements for the Oculus Rift. You can even download a tool that will check your PC to make sure it meets the minimum requirements.

Click Setup. It's the option furthest to the right in the white bar with the Oculus Rift options.

Click Download Oculus Rift Software. It's the white button below the header that says "Get Started with Rift". This downloads the Oculus Software install file.

Double-click the Oculus Install file. By default, downloads can be found in your Downloads folder. You can also click the install file in your web browser. This opens the Oculus Install program.

Select your language and click Let's Go. Use the drop-down menu to select your language. English (US) is the default language. Then click Let's Go to continue.

Click Agree. This indicates that you agree to the terms and conditions.

Choose an install location and click Next. By default, the Oculus software installs on your "C:" drive. If you want to install it on a different drive or location, click Choose location and select a different location in the file browser. Click Next when you are ready to continue.

Click Install Now. This installs the Oculus app. It requires about 5 gigabytes to install. You will need to go through a setup process with the Oculus Rift headset before you can access the Oculus store and download software.
