Automatic flushing is a wonderful invention, but sometimes stepping away from the toilet doesn't mean that you're done. Because of this major design flaw, unused toilet seat covers get flushed before you sit down, and you get splashed while still sitting on the toilet. Read on to learn how to prevent this problem from occurring to you ever again.
Steps
Method 1
Method 1 of 2:
Sensor Separate from the Wall
-
1Take a long strip of toilet paper. About three or four squares will do.
-
2Balance the strip of toilet paper on top of the sensor so that it blocks the sensor.Advertisement
-
3Sit in peace.
-
4Remove the strip of toilet paper and flush it down the toilet once you are finished and preparing to leave the stall.

Method 2
Method 2 of 2:
Sensor Embedded in the Wall
-
1Look for a thin crack in between the top of the sensor panel and the restroom wall opposite you.
-
2Take a long strip of toilet paper. About three or four squares will do.
-
3Hold the toilet paper against the panel with your weak hand, with the top of the toilet paper over the gap you identified in Step 1. Use your fingertips of both hands to crinkle the paper into the gap. Continue pressing the toilet paper into the space until the toilet paper remains in place.
-
4Take a deep breath and relax, knowing that the toilet won't be done until you are.
-
5Pull the strip of toilet paper out once you are finished and preparing to leave the stall, and flush it down the toilet.
