Mega Ring is an in-game item available in Pokémon X and Y that allows you to evolve your Pokémon into its “Mega” form. Mega Ring can be acquired by defeating Korrina, the gym leader of Shalour City, and is used with Mega Stones to make your Pokémon undergo a mega evolution during a Pokémon battle. Mega stones are hard to find in the game, but an upgraded Mega Ring allows you to easily detect Mega Stones buried on the ground. Learn how to upgrade your Mega Ring by scrolling down to step 1.

Steps

  1. 1
Finish the game. To upgrade your Mega Ring, you first need to finish the game. Play through the storyline of the game and reach the Pokémon league to defeat the Elite Four and become the Pokémon master.
  2. 2
Go to Kiloude City. Once you’ve beaten the game, you need to go to Kiloude City. You can reach the city either on foot or by using one of your Pokémon that has the Fly skill.

  3. 3
Head for the Battle Maison building. After you’ve arrived in Kiloude City, take the stone road and head to the upper part of the city where you can find the Battle Maison building.
  4. 4
Battle a Pokémon trainer. Enter Battle Maison and use the stairs to get to the room at the top floor. Once you get inside the room, talk to the attendant to start a battle challenge where you’ll battle another Pokémon trainer.
    • It doesn’t matter if you already have some progress with the challenges here; all you need to do is to win one battle challenge.
  5. 5
End the battle challenge. After you win the battle challenge, the attendant will ask you if you want to keep battling and give you two choices: to “Continue” or “Interrupt.” Select the latter option to stop the battle challenge. Leave the Battle Maison and head outside.
  6. 6
Battle and defeat your rival character. Take the road again and head to the northwest area of the city to the small pond. There you’ll find your rival character. Approach and talk to your rival to start a Pokémon battle.
    • Defeat your rival in the Pokémon battle and he/she will give you an Absolite, an item required for upgrading the Mega Stone.
    • Your Rival will also tell you that he/she has a message for Professor Sycamore that you need to deliver.
  7. 7
Deliver the message to Professor Sycamore. Go to Anistar City located at the western part of the Kalos region. You can get there by foot or by using your Pokémon that has the Fly skill.
    • Once you get to Anistar City, you need to go to the Sundial. Take the western exit of the city and this should lead you to where the Sundial is.
    • On the Sundial area, head up the road and you’ll see Professor Sycamore standing beside the Sundial. Approach and talk to the professor and he’ll ask you to touch the Sundial.
  8. 8
Upgrade your Mega Ring. Just touch the Sundial. Once your character touches the Sundial, the screen will blink and the professor will tell you that the Mega Ring has been upgraded. You can now detect Mega Stones anywhere in the region every day between 8 PM–9 PM only.
    • During these times, you’ll see certain spots on the ground illuminated by light, marking the location of Mega Stones. Simply walk on top of the spots to get the Mega Stones.
