- Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas's $55.1 million opening weekend became the highest debut for a Christmas-themed film. It had the highest opening weekend for a Jim Carrey film and a Ron Howard film, surpassing both Batman Forever and Ransom simultaneously.[5]
