2024 European Parliament election in Ireland

The 2024 European Parliament election in Ireland is the Irish component of the 2024 European Parliament election and is scheduled to be held in June 2024.[2] The date will be set by order of the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage on the same day as the 2024 local elections.[3] The election will be conducted in three constituencies on the electoral system of proportional representation by means of the single transferable vote (PR-STV).

Ireland currently has 13 MEPs. In June 2023, the European Parliament adopted a resolution to add an additional 11 MEPs. Ireland would gain one MEP under this arrangement, increasing from 13 to 14.[4][5] This was adopted by the European Council in September 2023.[1] The Electoral Commission is seeking submissions on a review of European Parliament Constituencies.[6]
