Kariz Kohandel

Kariz Kohandel (Persian: كاريز كهندل, also Romanized as Kārīz Kohandel; also known as Kārīz Kondel)[3] is a village in, and the capital of, Ostay Rural District of Jannatabad District, Salehabad County, Razavi Khorasan province, Iran.[4]

At the 2006 National Census, its population was 1,593 in 338 households, when it was in Jannatabad Rural District of the former Salehabad District of Torbat-e Jam County.[5] The following census in 2011 counted 1,568 people in 372 households.[6] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 1,598 people in 395 households; it was the largest village in its rural district.[2]

After the census, Salehabad District was separated from Torbat-e Jam County, and elevated to the status of Salehabad County. Jannatabad Rural District was separated from the new Central District to form Jannatabad District, containing the newly established Ostay Rural District, whose capital was designated as Kariz Kohandel.[4]
