Mérinchal

Mérinchal (French pronunciation: [meʁɛ̃ʃal]; Occitan: Mairinchal) is a commune in the Creuse department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region in central France.

Geography

A large area of farming, forestry, lakes and streams comprising several villages and hamlets situated some 15 miles (24 km) east of Aubusson, at the junction of the D27, D28 and the D31 roads and also on the D941. The commune has the department of Puy-de-Dôme on its eastern border and is also the source of the river Cher. Until 2008 the commune was served by two railway stations on the now closed line from Montluçon to Eygurande–Merlines.
