Mehrestan

Mehrestan (Persian: مهرستان), formerly known as Zaboli (Persian: زابلي) also Romanized as Zābolī; also known as Qal‘eh-ye Zābolī (English: Fort Zaboli); formerly, Magas,[3] is a city in, and the capital of, the Central District of Mehrestan County, Sistan and Baluchestan province, Iran, and also serves as capital of the county and of Zaboli Rural District.[4]

At the 2006 census, its population was 7,672 in 1,560 households, when it was in the former Zaboli District of Saravan County.[5] The following census in 2011 counted 10,112 people in 2,171 households,[6] by which time the district had been separated from the county to become a part of the newly formed Zaboli County (later renamed Mehrestan County).[4] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 12,245 people in 2,969 households.[2]
