Etymology
From Middle Persian GMRA, ʾwštl (uštar, “camel”), ultimately from Proto-Indo-Iranian *úštras, perhaps from Proto-Indo-European *ūrs- (“buffalo”). Compare Old English ūr.. Compare Avestan 𐬎𐬱𐬙𐬭𐬀 (uštra, “camel”), Old Persian 𐎢𐏁𐎲𐎠𐎼𐎡 (uša-bāri-, “camel-borne”), and Sanskrit उष्ट्र (uṣṭra, “camel, buffalo”), Perhaps related to Old Armenian ուղտ (ułt).
