Etymology

From Middle Chinese 妙法蓮華經 (MC miᴇuH pɨɐp̚ len hˠua keŋ|keŋH), itself being a translation of Sanskrit सद्धर्म पुण्डरीक सूत्र (Saddharma-puṇḍarīka Sūtra).[1][2][3][4]

Equivalent to  (みょう) (ほう) (myōhō, teachings of the Buddha, literally wondrous law) +  (れん) () (renge, lotus flower) +  (きょう) (kyō, sutra).
