Etymology
Action/resultant noun of *kyti (“to pound”) + *-a[1], an expressive variant of Proto-Slavic *kuti (“to forge, to hew”), ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *kewh₂- (“to hew, to forge”), or related to Proto-Slavic *kyvati (“to nod, to wink, to take a look”) / Proto-Slavic *kydati (“to fling”) from Proto-Indo-European *keh₁w- (“to flash, to swing”).
