FOA - Cooperative agreement to better understand the epidemiologic and microbiologic aspects of syphilis

The application period for this FOA is now closed. This information is for historical and educational purposes only.

Although innovative prevention interventions have been explored, the ongoing increase of syphilis, especially among men who have sex with men (MSM), has persisted for nearly 16 years.  To help develop effective and sustainable interventions to improve MSM health and reduce the incidence of syphilis and its sequela among this population, critical epidemiologic work is necessary. CDC’s Division of STD Prevention is pleased to announce “Understanding the Epidemiology of Syphilis in the United States,” DSTDP’s first research FOA in more than a decade.  Through this opportunity, funded investigators will explore syphilis through the lens of individual and network level factors as well as health care accessing and behavior.

For more information, including eligibility and the application process, please visit https://www.grants.gov/web/grants/search-grants.html, and search RFA-PS-17-002. Applications are due Nov 30, 2016.

Questions related to the funding opportunity should be directed to Bob Kirkcaldy (hgl8@cdc.gov) or Kyle Bernstein (kio8@cdc.gov).
