How to Add Friends on Pokémon X

Every Nintendo 3DS or 2DS has their own unique 12-digit code called the friend code. This new feature, which was also available in Wii, lets you connect with other players anywhere in the world as long as they have an Internet connection. Having a friends list on your Pokémon X and Y game lets you do different activities with your friends, such as trading, battling, voice chatting, co-op playing, and even having them in your Pokémon friend safari.

Adding Friends

Get your friend’s friend code. You will need this to add his or her to your Friends List.

Turn on your Nintendo 3DS or 2DS. To turn on your device, press the Power button on the front of the device once. Wait for a few seconds and your Nintendo device will open.

Open the Friends List. After opening your Nintendo device, you will see the home menu screen. On the top, tap the orange smiley face icon to open the Friends List.

Register a friend. Tap the “Register friend” button located on top to add a friend.

Choose if you will register a friend locally or from the Internet. A message will appear asking if you will register a friend either through “Local” or the “Internet.”
- Choose “Internet” to add friends no matter where there location is.
- You can choose “Local” if the friend that you want to register is physically located close to you.

Type in your friend’s code. Tap “OK” when you’re finished.
- Your friend will be immediately added to your Friends List.

Interacting with Friends

Open your Pokémon X game. After adding your friend’s code, go back to the home menu by tapping “Close” and then tapping “Home menu.” Make sure that your Pokémon X game is inserted on your Nintendo device. If it is, a “Pokémon X” game button should appear on the middle of the home menu.
- Click on the button to start the game.
- Click your profile to load your previously saved game.

Go to Pokémon Friend Safari. Choose a Pokémon that can use fly and use that fly to Kiloude City.
- From the Pokémon center, go to the right and then turn upwards on the last corner of the road.
- Stop when you see a building with a green Pokéball on top.
- Enter that building and then walk towards the lady in front of the desk and then choose “Go to Safari.”

Choose a safari. The list of your friends will appear on the bottom screen. Choose a friend to be able to go in their safari. After choosing a friend, click “Yes” and then you will now be able to enter your friend’s safari.

The friend codes show up in the friends list, not Pokemon X. If you go to the PSS in Pokemon X, your friend should show up. If not, then you're not registered as friends.

How do you clone a Pokemon in X and Y?

You can't clone; you breed. Catch a ditto at the Pokemon village (the meadow near Route 20), and then breed it with the Pokemon you want to clone. You do this by putting them both in the daycare, then wait a while. Eventually, if you're lucky, the old man who runs the daycare will give you an egg. After walking around for a while, the egg will hatch.
