  4. 4
Find the Old Man by walking north and talking to him. When he asks if you're in a hurry, say "No" and have him show you how to catch a Pokémon. This will activate the glitch.
  5. 5
    Fly back to Cinnabar Island.
  6. 6
Equip the item you want to clone as the 6th item from the top.
  7. 7
Surf along the south coast of the island until you encounter a "Missingo." or " 'M ".
  8. 8
Check your bag. The 6th item from the top will be cloned to 128! If you did it correctly, it shows a glitchy symbol next to the cloned item. Don't worry, your game will be fine.

Community Q&A

  • Question
Will this work more than once?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
Yes, as long as the item is able to be cloned. (Items like the fossils or bicycle cannot be cloned, but rare candies, potions, etc. can be.)
  • Question
Why don't you mention that Missingno has a higher chance of crashing Yellow?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
Because Missingno glitch doesn't multiply items in Yellow. It only works in Red and Blue.
  • Question
What if I've already talked to him and he isn't there anymore?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
That only happens in Pokemon Yellow when you're forced to talk to him and he fails to capture the Pokemon. This glitch doesn't work in Pokemon Yellow.
