  3. 3
Pour 2 cups of long-grain rice into the pot. Once the water comes to a boil, pour the rice into the water..
    • If you're using white rice varieties, it will take about 15-25 minutes to cook. While brown rice varieties will take about 45 minutes to cook.
    • Rice will be ready once it is firm and has absorbed the water
  4. 4
Add 1–2 tablespoons (3.0–6.0  tsp) of salt and 1 tablespoon (3.0  tsp) of butter into the pot. Then, stir the rice one time with a spatula. Avoid stirring the rice more than once.
  5. 5
Reduce the heat to a simmer. Allow the rice to cook until its designated cooking time.
  6. 6
Place the lid on top of the pot. The lid should not be removed from the pot until the rice has reached its designated cooking time.
  7. 7
Drain the water. Depending on the type of rice, once the designated cooking time has arrived the water should be drained out of the pot, leaving only the cooked rice inside the pot.
