Fatui Skirmishers are the soldiers of the Snezhenayan organization. They can be found commonplace across Teyvat. Individually, they can be weak but combined, they work together to fight off their enemies. This wikiHow will show you how to defeat a Fatui Skirmisher in Genshin Impact.

Part 1 of 2:

Dodging Attacks

  1. 1
Dodge the Pyroslinger's bullets. These will deal Pyro DMG upon impact. The Pyrogunner may fire 1-3 shots at you. Dash to avoid these or use a shield to protect your characters.
  2. 2
Dodge the Cryogunner's frost spray. These will deal continuous Cryo DMG. The Cryogunner may spray anywhere from 5 to 30 seconds, depending on whether its shield is activated.

  3. 3
Dodge the Hydrogunner's water spray. These will deal Hydro DMG in short bursts. The Hydrogunner may also heal enemies, depending on whether its shield is activated.
  4. 4
Dodge the Electrohammer's hammer. This will deal Electro DMG upon contact. The Electrohammer has a large AoE, so it may be best to stand back when its shield activates.
  5. 5
Mind the Anemoboxer's shield. These will reflect damage from any element back, except Anemo and Geo. If you see one, you should make sure to use a shield after or run to avoid taking serious damage.
  6. 6
Avoid the Geochanter's rock fragments. These will deal Geo DMG upon impact. The Geochanter may fire multiple rocks at you simultaneously, so you may want to use a shield to protect against those.
    • The Geochanter may also create a protective forcefield around its allies, reflecting most damage from bows and catalysts. You will still be able to go inside and deal damage to the Geochanter.
  7. 7
Watch for enemies jumping on you. The Cryogunner and Hydrogunner Legionnaires will try to jump or push against you to deal additional elemental damage. If this happens, you should dash to dodge it.

Dealing Damage

While all Fatui Skirmishers can take damage while their shields are active, they will experience a 90% damage reduction, so you should break the shield first.

  1. 1
Use Pyro to break a Cryogunner's shield. While you can use any element except Cryo to break the shield, Pyro requires the fewest hits. Breaking the shield will disable the Cryogunner for 10-15 seconds.
  2. 2
Use Cryo to break an Electrohammer's shield. While you can use any element except Electro to break the shield, Cryo requires the fewest hits. Breaking the shield will disable the Cryogunner for 10-15 seconds.
  3. 3
Use Electro to break a Hydrogunner's shield. While you can use any element except Hydro to break the shield, Electro requires the fewest hits. Breaking the shield will disable the Hydrogunner for 10-15 seconds.
  4. 4
Use Hydro to break a Pyroslinger's shield. While you can use any element except Pyro to break the shield, Hydro requires the fewest hits. Breaking the shield will disable the Pyrogunner for 10-15 seconds.
  5. 5
Use Geo or claymore attacks to break a Geochanter's shield. The Geochanter's shield only takes damage from Geo or claymore attacks. These hits will break the Geochanter's shield and disable the Geochanter for 10-15 seconds.
  6. 6
Infuse the Anemoboxer's shield with any element except Anemo or Geo to break it. The Anemoboxer will reflect the damage immediately back at your character, so run after doing so to avoid taking damage.
  7. 7
Use elemental reactions to defeat the Fatui Skirmishers. While you can defeat them in any order, it is a good idea to defeat certain enemies first before defeating others.
    • Start by tackling the Hydrogunner if present. This enemy will be a big hindrance as they will continuously regenerate the HP of its allies as well as provide them with an attack boost.
    • Next, tackle the Anemoboxer, then the Geochanter, if present. These will provide protection to their allies, reducing their damage input and potentially reflecting the damage back at you.
    • Finally, defeat the Cryogunner, Pyroslinger, and Electrohammer, in any order, if present. These will be much easier once they cannot be provided protection or healed.

Community Q&A

  • Question
My electro attacks are not breaking the hydro shield, what can I do?

Electro is the most effective element in breaking a Fatui hydrogunner's shield, but you can also use cryo, pyro, and even anemo, especially if it is swirled with another element like electro. If you have an electro character who can do consistent electro damage, like Lisa, Keqing, Fischl, Yae Miko, and Beidou (with her burst), you can use them to consistently start the electro-charged reaction to break the shield, or use them with other characters.
  • Question
    Can't I just become Tartaglia?

You can get Tartaglia as a playable character, yes, but outside of his story quest, it doesn't give you any advantages over Fatui skirmishers except that you can quickly take out the pyro one and do damage to others.
