To receive an Amazon affiliate ID, you must sign up for Amazon Associates; a free program that allows you to receive a commission, or referral amount, for purchases that are made by visitors to your website that are redirected to Amazon's website to buy products. To get an Amazon Associates account and affiliate ID, you must already have a website or a blog that you can post affiliate links to so your visitors can be redirected to Amazon's website. Adding Amazon affiliate links to your website can potentially earn you additional passive income; especially if you have a website or blog that receives a large amount of web traffic. For example, if your website focuses on health and exercise, you can incorporate Amazon affiliate links into your website that users can click on to purchase training gear or vitamin supplements directly from Amazon.
