How to Grow Geraniums Indoors

This article will explain how to grow geraniums. A few key points to remember is the need for good sun light for this to be a successful endeavor. If for any reason you do not have a green thumb then don't worry because geraniums are pretty carefree and are great for beginners and they are cheap to. One thing you should really keep in mind is not to over water.

Start with a healthy geranium of your choice.

Choose a good pot.

Choose some good potting soil .
- Make sure that the soil is well drained.

Tap the plant out of its pot and check how root bound it is .

Transplant if it is very root bound then give it a larger pot. If it is not very root bound, give it a slightly larger pot.

Put in a sunny window.
- Window should be a west or south facing for best results. An east or north window will result in less to no blooms, but the plant will survive.

Water well to begin with. You should only need to water your plant when the soil is completely dry or close to that point.

Remove dead leaves as need arises.
- You can tell when leaves are ready to be removed by gently tugging them. If they come off, they are ready. If they do not, then wait a little longer. This will also work with the flower stalks.

- Do not shade geranium.Give a bright, non-shaded window.

Keep geraniums away from cats or up on a windowsill so a cat will not ingest them. If ingested by a cat, contact vet immediately
