Part 1
Part 1 of 4:

Dressing Your Doll

  1. 1
Provide your baby doll with clothes. You can make your own or buy some doll clothes if you'd like.
  2. 2
Make a diaper from scrap toweling or an old towel. Alternatively, use real ones; choose the very smallest ones.

Providing Your Doll a Home

  1. 1
Make a "room" for your doll.
  2. 2
Make a doll bed. Make it from a shoe box or similar small box. Line with a piece of foam. Add a blanket, sheet and pillow.
    • A pillow and sleeping mat can be made from scrap fabric. Cut two pieces of fabric into a rectangle shape and stitch up three sides. Stuff, then stitch up the final side.
  3. 3
Make a personal space for your doll. Set up like a bedside table, then put the bed you made for your doll on the bedside table or inside your room.

Part 3 of 4:

Feeding Your Doll

  1. 1
Prepare fake food for your baby doll. Pretend you are feeding the "child." Mix a bit of cornflour with water (1/4 cornflour, 3/4 water) and add a few drops of your choice food coloring.
    • Do not place fake food inside the doll; it might go moldy and ruin the doll.
  2. 2
Make a bottle. You can check out How to Make a Bottle for a Stuffed Animal or Baby Doll.
  3. 3
Feed baby food. If you have a Baby Alive Sweet Spoonfuls doll, you can feed the doll with food made just for her and she will "poop". These dolls are great if you are ready to have a "real" baby.

Caring for Your Doll

  1. 1
Don't leave the baby unattended. Unless you must go to school or any place where you really shouldn't bring the doll.
  2. 2
Never leave your "child" in the car. If it were a real child, there's a very good chance somebody might call the police.
  3. 3
Have fun! You have to pay a lot of attention to the "child." Take the baby for a stroll and if you want, you can be fancy and buy real baby stuff.
  4. 4
Play games with your doll. Play hide and seek, card games and ball games.
  5. 5
Put your doll to bed at a good time each night.
  6. 6
Try out what it is really like to be a real parent. If you really want to pretend to be a parent for real, set an alarm about 2 to 3 times a night. When you have a newborn, you will be up at least that many times in the first few months.
