Worry is absolutely ineffective, unproductive, and a total waste of time! It avails nothing! Did you know that God wants us to transfer our problems to Him through prayer: to bring to Him our cares and worries? He wants to lift your heavy burdens from you and give you peace. He has made you several offers and invitations in His Word, the Holy Bible! 1 Peter 5:7 - "Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you!" And another verse: Php 4:6-7 - "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." Now, isn't that the sweetest promise? And doesn't it just reveal to us the great heart of God, who loves us and made a way for us to come to Him through prayer! He invites us... " Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." - Mt 11:28 So with that encouragement, let us take Him up on it and do just that... give Him our heavy burdens through prayer.
Steps
-
1Realize that you are welcome to pray. Prayer was His idea; His way for us to come and communicate with Him. God encourages it, and even commands it! "Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving" - Col 4:2. "Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints" - Eph 6:18
-
2Realize that you have a legitimate standing to pray! We come to God as we would to our Daddy, for when we accept Jesus as our Savior we are automatically His adopted children! Our heavenly Father cares for us and takes us on... we are His to enjoy, protect, and provide for just as our earthly father does.Advertisement

3You must believe that He will hear your prayer and answer for the prerequisite for prayer is faith. "He that comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of them that seek Him!" Reading Scriptures about prayer will build your faith, for we have the promise that He will hear us and answer us. John 15:16b - "That whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, He may give it you."
-
4Learn to come to the Father in the name of Jesus, His first and only begotten Son. They work together. In John 14:13, Jesus said: "And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son."
-
5Know that another unshakable condition of prayer is forgiveness toward others! Mark 11:25 - "And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses." If you don't forgive others He will not hear you!
-
6Now you are ready to pray. Actually do it! He will hear and answer; but only if you pray! Unburden yourself. Speak freely and honestly about everything that troubles you. Ask for His help! Ask for His forgiveness! Ask for His direction in your life! Pray until you get relief and feel His peace come to you.
-
7Wait on the Lord for your answer. He has it! No sense in being anxious anymore. Know that He is working all things together for your good in this situation.
Community Q&A
-
QuestionI am praying so desperately, but I am not getting any answer from God. I followed these steps, but still nothing. What can I do?Community AnswerSometimes God makes us wait for an answer. In many cases, waiting can make the problem seem worse than it already is. However, it's important not to lose sight of your faith. God may test you, but He will never tempt you. Keep persevering and you'll find the strength to push through.

QuestionWill God forgive you if you break your promise to Him?ZackTop AnswererYes. From a Christian perspective, the death of Jesus Christ is the price of forgiveness. To say that God cannot forgive a person is like saying that Jesus' sacrifice for sins was not enough. Trust fully in the person and atoning work of Jesus Christ. Allow God to transform you into a person of integrity to keep promises from now on.

QuestionMy family doesn't understand me. Can I still be at peace even though they think I'm a bad person?Community AnswerYour family does not have the right to judge you. They may not understand you or what you do, but God does. He sees you as you are and He loves you no matter what. Ask Him for comfort and compassion for and from your family. Ask Him to help you talk with them and tell them that you love them, even as they struggle to understand you. Ask Him to take your problems and turn them into solutions. Ask Him to show you how to understand and love yourself as He does.
Warnings
- You know, stress and anxiety are silent killers. Prayer is the cure for both conditions. You can continue to carry your worries and heavy burdens. Or you can cast them on the Lord... for He does care for you!⧼thumbs_response⧽
