Description
HoneyHole Sandwiches is a sandwich restaurant with two locations in Seattle: the original on Pike Street, on Capitol Hill, and a second on Jefferson in the First Hill / Central District area.[1][2] Seattle Metropolitan has described the Pike location as a "jolly alt dive".[3]
Menu
The restaurant serves hot and cold sandwiches, as well as sides such as French fries,[4][5] coleslaw, potato salad, or a house salad.[6] The menu has sandwiches named Emilio Pestovez and the Texas Tease, which has shredded barbecue chicken.[7][8] The Buford T. Justice has pork and pineapple,[9] the Daytripper has hummus,[10] and the Pilgrim is marketed as "Thanksgiving dinner on a roll".[11] The Built to Satisfy is a classic BLT.[12]
History
The restaurant was founded by brothers Sean and Devon London; Hannah Roberts was also a co-owner.[13] Kristin and Patrick Rye purchased the restaurant in 2021.[14] In May of 2023 former employees alleged that there had been paycheck irregularities and late payment, in addition to a toxic work environment under the management of Kristin Rye.[15][16] The couple sold the business to general manager Evan Bramer in August of 2023.[17]
The 4,000-square-foot second location opened in 2021, adding 30 employees.[18]
Reception
HoneyHole won in the Best Sandwich category of Seattle Magazine's annual readers' poll in 2018.[19] The business was included in the Daily Hive's 2021 list of Seattle's best sandwich eateries.[20] Caitlin Flynn included HoneyHole in Eat This, Not That's 2022 list of "The Best Spot to Get a BLT in Every State".[12]
