Palangabad, Alborz

Palangabad (Persian: پلنگآباد, also Romanized as Palangābād; also known as Qelīchābād)[2] is a city in, and the capital of, Palangabad District of Eshtehard County, Alborz province, Iran.

At the 2006 census, its population was 1,026 in 285 families, when it was a village in Palangabad Rural District of Eshtehard District of Karaj County, Tehran province.[3] At the latest census in 2016, the population of the village was 1,012 in 306 households, by which time the district had separated from the county and become a part of recently established Alborz province as Eshtehard County, with two districts. It was the largest village in its rural district.[4][5] After the census, the village was elevated to the status of a city and became the capital of Palangabad District.[6]
