The shape and design of the road signs largely follow the road signs used in most European countries, including European Union countries (France, Germany, Italy and etc.), to which Romania joined in 2007. Romania is a signatory to the 1968 Vienna Convention of Road Signs and Signals and the 1971 European Agreement supplementing it.[2]
