Hospital Validate and Edit Abstracted Data Data Flow Diagram
The validate event report data flow diagram shows the detailed procedural flow of control of the function. A text description of the diagram and legend may be found below. For information about reading diagrams, see Diagram Conventions.
- Steps 1 and 2
The registrar marks an abstract as ready to be edited. (BR01)(SR01) Step 2. The registrar selects appropriate edit set(s). (BR02)(SR02, SR03, SR04, SR05) - Steps 3 to 6
Cancer registry (CR) software runs all selected metafiles against the abstract and finds no errors. If the edits fail, CR software displays the abstract and the results of the failed edits. The registrar corrects the errors or overrides the error messages, and the process continues with Step 3. (SR07, SR08, SR09) Step 4. CR software records that the abstract has passed edits. Step 5. CR software stores the results of editing in the ErrorMonitoring table. (SR06) Step 6. The process ends.
Data Flow Diagram Legend
There are two actors: the registrar and the cancer registry (CR) software.
The process starts when the registrar marks the abstract as ready to be edited. The registrar selects one or more appropriate edit sets. The CR software runs the selected metafiles against the abstract and checks for errors.
If the CR software finds errors, the CR software displays the abstract and the results of the failed edits, and the registrar corrects or overrides the errors. This step is repeated until no errors are found.
The CR software marks the abstract as "passed edits" and stores the result of editing in the ErrorMonitoring table. The process ends.
