Gallade is a rare Psychic/Fighting Pokémon first introduced in Generation IV. He is a powerful fighter and a master swordsman. Its Psychic attacks also make him quite versatile. He can be hard to come by, especially in certain versions of the game. Start at Step 1 below to get started on getting your own Gallade!

Steps

  1. 1
Obtain a male Ralts. Gallade is an evolution of Kirlia, which is an evolution of Ralts. Only male Kirlias can evolve into a Gallade. Since finding a Kirlia is difficult, you will have more luck getting your hands on a Ralts. Note: if you can obtain a male Kirlia through trading or in the wild, you can skip to Step 3.
    • Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald – Ralts can be captured on Route 102 connecting Oldale Town and Petalburg City. Ralts is rare, so you may have to spend some time finding one.
    • Pokémon Diamond and Pearl – Ralts can be captured on Routes 203 and 204. You have to use your Poké Radar to encounter it. You also have a very small chance of finding a Kirlia, which will save you some time.
    • Pokémon Platinum – Ralts can be found on Routes 208, 209, and 212. Kirlia can also be found on Route 212 and Route 209 with the Poké Radar.
    • Pokémon Black and White – Ralts can be found in the White Forest in Pokémon White, but cannot be found by Pokémon Black players. Pokémon Black players will need to trade with another game to obtain Ralts.
    • Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 – Ralts can only be obtained by going through the trading game with Curtis or Yancy in Nimbasa City. Ralts will be the third Pokémon you receive, but may be either female or male.
    • Pokémon X and Y – Ralts can be found in Route 4 in both the Yellow and Red flowers. It is a rare Pokémon, so this may take a little while.
  2. 2
Evolve your male Ralts into Kirlia. Ralts needs to reach level 20 in order to evolve into Kirlia. You can either fight battles to gain this experience or use Rare Candies to increase Ralts’ level.

  3. 3
Evolve your male Kirlia in Gallade with a Dawn Stone. Dawn Stones can be found in a variety of locations in all of the different games, including Dust Clouds in Black and White and Black 2 and White 2, and from Secret Super Training in X and Y.[1]
    • Do not let your Kirlia reach level 30 before evolving. At level 30, Kirlia will automatically evolve into Gardevoir, and you will lose your chance to obtain Gallade with that Pokémon.

  • Question
I have a male Kirlia at level 29. It is holding the dawn stone right now. First I selected "give" on the dawn stone for Kirlia. Nothing happened. So then I selected "use" and still nothing happened. Then I decided to level him up while he holds the dawn stone; he is still a Kirlia. What can I do?

Unequip the dawn stone, go to the dawn stone in your bag, press the dawn stone, press "use." It should say "who would you like to use the dawn stone on?" Select Kirilia.
  • Question
Where can I find the Dawn Stone in X and Y?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
First, get TM surf. Then fly or walk to route 3, then search for a body of water. Next, use surf to reach a dawn stone. At least this is the process for Pokémon X, so I would guess it is the same for Pokémon Y.
  • Question
Where do I get the dawn stone in Pokemon Platinum?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
There are four ways to obtain a Dawn Stone in Pokémon Platinum. The first is within Mt. Coronet in the piece that connects Oreburgh and Hearthome. You'll have to use surf to receive it though. There is also a hidden Dawn Stone on Route 212, use the dowsing app on your Pokétch to find it. There is another Dawn Stone on Route 225. Aside from that, the only other way to find a Dawn Stone is via Pokémon with the ability pickup.

Warnings

  • Keep in mind that if your Ralts happens to grow to level 30 or higher, it will evolve into a Gardevoir and you will have to start all over again. However, you may just cancel its evolution to gain better moves such as hypnosis.
