You might feel very annoyed because you can't find good hiding places. Then, you find a perfect one, and your friend comes to hide with you and you get found. This article will tell you how to keep that from happening.
Steps
Method 1
Method 1 of 3:
Before You Play
-
1Survey the area and layout of the hiding area. Ask for a few minutes before the game to look around the area and get familiar with the hiding spots. Try making a map and/or a list of hiding places where you can hide.
-
2Go over any rules specific to the hiding area. Be sure that everyone knows the rules ( boundaries, private rooms, whatever.)Advertisement
-
3Choose who is it. Make sure that everyone likes who is it and that the person they chose is a fair size. ( The smallest person shouldn't be it.) You might choose it by doing a quick game of rock, paper, scissors or you might say a tongue twister and see who gets it wrong or you might sometimes do bubble gum in a dish and see who's the last one in.

Method 2 of 3:
Playing as the Seeker
-
1Enforce a smaller number over a larger one when you're counting. This will be useful for you as the hiders will have to dash to their hiding places. They'll likely be out of breath and you won't have to wait around counting.
-
2Start counting. While you count, the hiders will run to their hiding places. When you are done the counting, you will look for them.
-
3Check everywhere. It may seem like a waste of time, but even the most obvious places are hiding places in a hider's mind. Pretend that you are a hider, and you will probably think in the same way.
-
4Be silent. If you are being loud, not only will you alert hiders to your presence, but you will not be able to hear the hiders. Be sure to listen for noises the hiders will make. If you hear laughing, whispering, coughing, and sneezing, then you will know you've found someone.
-
5Look out for distractions. Expert hiders and even some beginner hiders will carry a squeaky toy or a bottle cap that they can throw far away from the hiding place. If you hear something, check the area it fell quickly and carefully as it might have been something that fell from a hider's pocket. If you find the object that was thrown, pick it up and take it with you so that the hider can't retrieve it and use it again.
-
6When you find someone, depending on the rules, they will either help you find the rest of the hiders or sit down somewhere and wait until you find the rest. Whoever you have found first will be it in the next game.

Method 3
Method 3 of 3:
Playing as the Hider
-
1Don't give yourself away. Many hiders will show where they are going to hide by looking at a certain place or getting ready to run to a certain place. Instead, you should look at another place that's far away from where you are going to hide.
-
2Hide close to where the seeker is counting. Unless the seeker is an expert, he/she most likely won't check next to where they are counting. However, if you don't know if the seeker is an expert, don't try to hide there as you will likely be found first.
-
3Walk slowly. Even if the seeker is counting to a very small number like ten, don't dash madly to get to your hiding place. You will be out of breath and if you are still running while the seeker is looking, he/she will hear you.
-
4Don't leave any evidence! No matter how perfect your hiding place is, IT WILL BE FOUND if you leave evidence. Try not to bring your phone unless you must; it will make noise and the light might show through your pocket. Also, don't bring keys, coins, or anything else that will jingle in your pocket.
-
5Use a simple strategy. Try hiding in rooms the seeker has already checked or stay where you are; it all depends on which one you think is better. If you have a really good hiding place no one has ever found, stay there only for the first half of the game. If you stay there the whole game, you will be found and you'll have to think of another hiding place.

Community Q&A
-
QuestionWhy would the seeker hear me if I ran?Olivia ReidCommunity AnswerThe seeker would hear you if you ran because every time your feet hit the floor, it makes a loud thumping noise, making it easier for the seeker to find you.
-
QuestionHow can I find someone in hide and seek if they keep moving around the house silently?Olivia ReidCommunity AnswerYou can still check objects that people can fit in, such as tables, beds, chairs. And you can also check every room in the house, and at the same time, look at all your surroundings, which will probably make it harder for the hiders to sneak around.

QuestionWhat if you don't have to time hide?Otterly BadgerificTop AnswererIf you don't have time to hide, try to stand still behind something near you or squat/sit as low as you can near an object. Another option is to guess where the seeker is going to look first and make sure you're not in their line of sight but rather behind them or way off to their side. If you can, try to be beneath or above them. If all else fails, just say you didn't have time to hide and you'll sit this round out till they find everyone else.
