Using urns in RuneScape is very helpful in gaining experience, as the pot collects "scraps" from raw material (fish, logs, etc) and gives you bonus experience when teleported. Crafting urns can be a huge push in boosting your crafting level to encourage you to raising other skills.

Steps

  1. 1
Think of the kind of skill urn you want to make.
    • Cooking urn
    • Fishing urn
    • Woodcutting urn
    • Mining urn
    • Smelting urn
    • Prayer urn
  2. 2
Know that you will need a specific crafting level to make each one.

  3. 3
Make soft clay. Mine clay rocks and use any water source on them.
  4. 4
Click on a pottery wheel with the soft clay in your inventory. Be sure to click on the wheel; don't use the clay on the wheel, otherwise you will be asked if you want to craft clay rings. When crafted on the pottery wheel, the clay will become "unf" (unfired) urns.
    • Remember that every urn will use two soft clay. Be prepared to mine additional clay if crafting multiple sets or urns at once.
  5. 5
Use the unfired urns on a pottery oven. They will then become "nr" (no rune) urns.
  6. 6
Use specific elemental runes to activate them. They will then become "r" (rune) urns.
    • Fire runes: Smelting and cooking
    • Water runes: Fishing
    • Earth runes: Woodcutting and mining
    • Air runes: Prayer

Community Q&A

  • Question
My cooking urn in the dimension of disaster won't fill up, I don't know how to check if I have another urn. Checked my bank, no urn. What do I do?

    Community Answer
If the cooking urn for this quest doesn't fill up, check your bank in the actual RuneScape world (not the New Varrock). Any partial urns there affect your quest urn and must be either completely filled/sent or destroyed (meaning zero'ed out in the real world) before you can successfully fill up your New Varrock one.
  • Question
How do I make a bamboo cutting urn?

Decorated woodcutting urns are the only ones that can fill up by cutting bamboo, as well as golden bamboo. To make a decorated WC urn, you must be level 76 crafting in order to add an earth rune to a (NR) decorated WC urn.
