Maybe you need a Sim to throw up for a story or machinima, or you want to cause some havoc in your Sims game. While most illnesses for Sims 4 and Sims 3 are included in expansion packs, it's always possible to make them throw up. This wikiHow will teach you how to make Sims sick in The Sims 4, The Sims 3, and The Sims 2.

Method 1
Method 1 of 3:

On Sims 4

  1. 1
Force your Sim to experience nausea. If your Sim gets nauseous, you can click on a toilet and pick Throw Up, or wait to see if they throw up when the moodlet expires. Some things that will make your Sim nauseous include:
    • Eating spoiled food
    • Eating meat, if your Sim has the Vegetarian trait
    • Being pregnant (Sims may throw up randomly in their first trimester, and you can direct any pregnant Sim to throw up)
    • Seeing violence, poor hygiene, or rotten food with the Squeamish trait

Tip: Avoid the Glutton trait. It will give your Sim a stronger stomach and make it more difficult for them to get sick from eating spoiled food.

  2. 2
Buy the Get to Work expansion for illnesses. Get to Work added illnesses to The Sims 4; they can be caught at random, from being around sick Sims, or from being at the hospital. They usually make your Sim Uncomfortable or Dazed, but they're only a few hours long and are not fatal.
    • You can't manually give your Sims illnesses without use of third-party mods.

  3. 3
Eat at a Dine Out restaurant for a chance of food poisoning. Sending your Sim to a restaurant in Dine Out carries a chance of food poisoning, which will nauseate them and cause their Bladder need to rapidly drop for awhile.
  4. 4
Expose your Sim to poison if you have Jungle Adventure. Sims exploring in Selvadorada can trigger poisonous booby traps, or encounter insects that poison them. This will cause your Sim to develop green, splotchy circles all over.
    • Poison has a chance of killing your Sim. If you don't want them to die, trade bone dust with a Selvadorada local to receive a poison antidote, or use a computer to purchase it.
    • A ghost that has died of poison can also poison your Sim by burping.
  5. 5
Have your Sim bitten by a My First Pet Stuff rodent. My First Pet Stuff allows your Sims to own pet rodents. If your Sim doesn't clean out their rodent's cage, the rodent can bite them when the Sim tries to play with them, and possibly give them Rabid Rodent Fever. (The chance of the rodent biting is higher if it doesn't like your Sim.)
    • Your Sim won't always get Rabid Rodent Fever after being bitten. Sims with the disease will later get the "Fuzzy Feeling" moodlet. If they don't get this moodlet, they're not sick.
    • The Rabid Rodent Fever is contagious after about a day, and fatal if untreated. To cure your Sim, either send them to the vet and have them Ask About Fever, or have them buy an antidote using the computer.

Method 2
Method 2 of 3:

On Sims 3

  1. 1
Make your Sim nauseated. Certain things can give your Sim a Nauseous moodlet, which will make them throw up when the moodlet timer runs out. Things that will make your Sim nauseous include:
    • Eating spoiled food
    • Morning sickness, in pregnant Sims
    • Eating meat if the Sim is a vegetarian
    • Overusing the SimLife Goggles
    • Placing a tiberium rock in your Sim's inventory (World Adventures)
    • Using a malfunctioning Floor Hygienator (Ambitions)
    • Undergoing Experimental Treatment in the Medical career (Ambitions)
    • Eating Plasma if the Sim isn't a vampire (Late Night or Supernatural)
    • Eating garlic as a vampire (Late Night or Supernatural)
    • Making a failed elixir (Supernatural)
    • Partaking in a hot dog eating contest (Seasons)
    • Eating too much herb, a bad soda, or a bad candy bar (University Life)
    • Becoming seasick on a houseboat (Island Paradise)
    • Using jetpacks (Into the Future)
  2. 2
Contract the Mummy's Curse if you have World Adventures. Some tombs in Al Simhara have a mummy resting in a sarcophagus. If you direct a Sim to look inside the sarcophagus or grab treasure in the same room, the mummy will pop out and fight with your Sim. If your Sim doesn't have high Athletic and Martial Arts skills, the mummy may expel greenish fog on them that will give them the Mummy's Curse.
    • At first, the Mummy's Curse won't have visible effects beyond a negative moodlet. As time passes, however, your Sim will develop a black hue around the ends of the screen, and will eventually die.
    • The Mummy's Curse is fatal if left untreated. If you don't want your Sim to die of their illness, you'll need to find a cure. (One method is to plead with the Sphinx, which will open up a quest for your Sim.)
  3. 3
Visit a Late Night food truck. Various food trucks can be found driving around Bridgeport. Sims who eat from these food trucks might get the Food Poisoning moodlet, and throw up when the timer runs out.
    • Typical Sims have around a 15% chance of getting food poisoning, while Snobs have a 30% chance of it.

Tip: Ice cream from the ice cream truck won't give your Sim food poisoning. It can give your Sim the Brain Freeze moodlet, but it won't make them sick.

  4. 4
Have a Sim or pet contract fleas. If you have the Pets expansion, a dog or cat can get fleas by spending a lot of time outside, being in dirty areas (like hay or trash piles), or interacting with other flea-infested animals. Pets can also transfer fleas to Sims by interacting with them or being nearby. An infested Sim or pet will become itchy and have black flecks jumping off of them.
    • Pets can get rid of fleas by receiving a flea bath or using the Pet Hygienator Lifetime Reward. Sims can get rid of them by showering or taking a bath.
    • Horses and small pets do not get fleas.
  5. 5
Receive the Pestilence Curse from a witch in Supernatural. Witches who are at least Level 8 in the Spellcasting skill can perform the Pestilence Curse on other Sims. A cursed Sim will first get the "Sick and Tired" moodlet, and then get the "Pestilence Plague" moodlet, which will make them cough. (The Pestilence Plague can also be spread from Sim to Sim.)
    • The Pestilence Plague will go away on its own, but you can also immediately cure it with a Sunlight Charm. Cure Elixirs and Potent Cure Elixirs also work for this purpose.
    • If your Sim currently has the Immunity moodlet, they can't get the Pestilence Plague.
  6. 6
Catch seasonal illnesses in Seasons. If you have Seasons, your Sim can catch a cold or experience seasonal allergies. While any Sim can get a cold any time of year, allergies mostly occur in the spring or summer, and not every Sim gets them.
    • Sims with a cold will get the "Germy" moodlet, and cough or sneeze. Sims have a randomized chance of catching a cold throughout the year, but they're more likely to catch it during the fall, or when they've been around another sick Sim.
    • During the spring or summer, directing your Sim to pick flowers can give them the "Allergy Haze" moodlet, which will cause them to sneeze. (You can treat your Sim's allergies by clicking on the hospital and choosing Get Allergy Shot (§200).)

Did You Know? If you have Pets installed, dogs are able to catch and spread colds as well. Cats and horses are immune.

  7. 7
Contract "illnesses" from Sims University's Busche School of Science. A Sim in university can earn money through donations to the Busche School of Science, but these will give your Sim temporary moodlets that can be seen as low-grade illnesses.
    • Donate plasma to get the "Plasmatic Platitudes" moodlet, which can make your Sim pass out.
    • Donate giggles to develop the Giggle Fits, which will make your Sim giggle uncontrollably.
    • Donate saliva to develop a Dry Mouth, which just makes your Sim lick their lips.
  8. 8
Get the Time Paradox Sickness from Into the Future. When Sims time-travel, there's a possibility that they can develop Time Paradox Sickness. While Time Paradox Sickness doesn't make your Sim physically sick, it will cause them to partially or fully vanish for a few moments, and give them a negative moodlet.
    • Like the Mummy's Curse, Time Paradox Sickness can be fatal. If you don't send your Sim to the hospital in time, they will die.

Method 3
Method 3 of 3:

Sims 2

  1. 1
Get a Sim pregnant for morning sickness. Sims will almost always throw up at least once during their first day of pregnancy. Direct an adult or elder male and adult female Sim to Try for Baby, or get an adult male abducted by aliens - both typically result in pregnancy.
    • The frequency of morning sickness varies. Some Sims throw up often, while others only throw up once or twice.
    • Morning sickness only occurs in the Sim's first trimester, before they start showing.
  2. 2
Have your Sim eat bad food. If your Sim eats burnt or spoiled food, or eats out of the trash can (if they're Sloppy), there's a small chance of them developing food poisoning, which will make them nauseous and throw up.
  3. 3
Have cockroaches nearby. Encourage cockroaches to show up by putting trash on the floor or having a Sim kick over the trash can, and then keep your Sim near the roaches or direct them to stomp on them. Your Sim has a chance of developing influenza from being near roaches, which will make them cough frequently and suddenly drop their Bladder need.
    • Evil witches can't catch the flu.
  4. 4
Allow your Sim to randomly catch a cold. If your Sim goes to work or school, they have a small chance of coming home with a cold, which will make them cough and sneeze.
    • Sims are likely to pass along colds to other Sims on the lot.
  5. 5
Let a cold progress to pneumonia. Sims can get pneumonia if they have a cold for at least ten days. They'll cough like they did with their cold, but pneumonia will also drain their energy, and can potentially kill them.
  6. 6
Use the biotech station. Sims can accidentally create a virus using the biotech station career reward. This is more likely if their Logic skill is low and if they have low hygiene, but any Sim can create viruses. If your Sim creates a virus, a popup will appear in the upper right-hand corner alerting you of their illness, and they'll show various signs of illness (whether that's coughing, sneezing, vomiting, or having rapidly-dropping motives).
    • A disease from the biotech station always carries the risk of killing your Sim.
    • The disease from the biotech station is extremely likely to spread to other Sims. If you don't want other Sims to catch it, quarantine the sick Sim.
