Texting a guy you like can feel like solving a puzzle, especially when you’re trying to get him to chase you. Striking the balance between showing too much interest and not showing enough isn’t as hard as it seems—and if you do it right, you’ll have him thinking about you all the time. Read through these tips and tricks to catch a guy’s interest and keep it as long as you want.

Talk about what you’re doing that day.

Ask him thoughtful questions about himself.

  1. This is a great way to keep him interested in your conversation. Think of a few fun questions that you might ask him to get to know him a little better, like what he does for fun or where his family is from. Then, try to ask one or two questions every time you two text. He’ll remember you as the nice person who wants to know more about him, and that will get him thinking about you a lot. Try to ask open-ended ones that he can’t just answer with yes or no. You could ask questions like:[3]
    • What’s your favorite way to spend the weekend?
    • Where do you go to relax?

Send a fun picture of your location.

  1. Keep him hooked by showing him where you’re at and what you’re doing. Texting messages back and forth all day can get a little boring, so try to spice it up with a fun picture. Plus, you can show off your photography skills, and it may just lead to him asking you questions about the cool shot you snapped.[4]
    • For instance, if you sent him a photo of you on a hike, you could say, “Just hiked that new mountain trail! It was a doozy!”
    • Or, if you sent him a pic of a nice flower you found, you might say, “Was out walking around and spotted this!”

Give him some sincere compliments.

Keep your messages positive.

  1. Try to be upbeat so he looks forward to chatting with you. We all have bad days sometimes, but if you want this guy to chase you, you’ll want to keep a positive attitude. Tell him about the good things that happened to you that day, and try to look on the bright side of things—that way, he’ll want to text you even more.[8]
    • For instance, you might text him something like, “Just had such a good day! The weather was so nice, I spent the whole time outside. What have you been up to?”
    • Don’t forget to add in a few emojis! A smiley face or a heart can really make your message more upbeat.

Post fun stuff on social media.

  1. It might not be texting, but he’ll still notice it! If you two have added each other on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram, keep your status updated regularly, and update your followers about what you’re doing that day. When the guy you’re texting sees what you’ve posted, he might just text you about it![11]
    • For instance, if you’re out with your friends, post a selfie on your Instagram story to show how much fun you’re having.
    • If you’re having a chill day at home, post about the new show you’re watching or book that you’re reading.
