Method 1: Flaxseed gel
- 2 cups of Water
- 1/4 to 1/2 cup of Flax seed
- 1 tbsp of Aloe Vera Gel (optional)
- Essential oil (optional)
Method 2: Conditioner and Aloe Vera Cream

- 2 pinches Cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon Olive oil
- Essential oil (optional)
Steps
Part 1
Part 1 of 2:
Flaxseed Gel
-
1Gather your ingredients and equipment.
-
2Pour the water and the flax seeds into a pot, bring your stove to low/medium heat and bring your mixture to a boil stirring the flaxseed often, and gently, with the wooden spoonAdvertisement
-
3Turn off heat when a white frothy gel like liquid forms (it will have a raw egg white consistency).
-
4Continue stirring while it simmers. Put the strainer on top of your bowl or container and pour the mixture in.
-
5Let it cool down, and, if you want to, add aloe gel and essential oil
-
6Keep the leftover flaxseeds in a zip lock bag for another use or two
-
7Apply the gel. Use gel while hair is clean and damp to wet. It may be goopy, so you may have to adjust the recipe a bit by increasing or decreasing the amount of flax seed as you create it.
-
8You may need to add some additional ingredients to your gel depending your requirements:
- If not moist enough you can add olive oil to your mix for a more nourishing gel.
- If your gel is too thin, try adding a bit more flaxseed to your next batch, add a touch of honey or experiment with a teaspoon of xanthan gum for a thickener.
- If your gel smells, adding an essential oil can make your gel and hair smell better
