Perhaps from contraction or corruption of พระ (prá, “headword for nouns concerning gods, priests, royals”, literally “divine; holy; sacred; etc”) +‎ หทัย (“heart; mind; emotion; etc”).

พระทัย • (prá-tai)

1. (of a god, high priest, or royal person) heart; mind; emotion, feeling, thought, spirit; intention, will, desire, wish.
   • 1 Corinthians 2:16, KJV:

     เพราะว่า 'ใครเล่ารู้จักพระทัยขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าเพื่อจะแนะนำสั่งสอนพระองค์ได้' แต่เราก็มีพระทัยของพระคริสต์
