Trying to get an opinion on a burning question? You can get an answer by running a poll on your Snapchat story! The app has a built-in polling feature in the form of a sticker.[1] You can type in a question and post it to your story. People who view the story can vote on two selected emojis in response to the question. This wikiHow article will show you how to do a poll on Snapchat using an Android, iPhone, or iPad.
Things You Should Know
- Post a poll to your Snapchat story by using their built-in sticker.
- Check who voted on what emoji and post the total results to your story.
- Try a 3rd party polling service for more features.
Steps
Post a Poll to Your Story
-
1Open the Snapchat app. (It’s the yellow icon with a white ghost inside). The app will open to the camera screen.
-
2Tap the camera button to take a picture. It’s the white circle at the bottom of the camera screen.
- This picture will be the background of your poll. You can take a picture of something related to the poll to provide more context to your audience. For example, you could post a photo of a new shirt and ask “should I wear this shirt on a first date?”
-
3Tap the sticker button. It’s the white square on the right side of the photo editing screen. This will open the sticker drawer.
-
4Tap the poll button. It’s at the top of the drawer in the star section of the sticker drawer.
-
5Type your question. Your question will appear in the Ask a question box above the thumbs up and thumbs down icons.
-
6Tap done when you finish typing your question. You can edit your question text by tapping on the sticker.
-
7Tap the thumbs up emoji. When you tap either default thumbs emoji, an emoji selection menu will open at the bottom of the screen.
- You can skip this step if you want to stick with the thumbs up and thumbs down emojis.
-
8Tap the emoji you want. Changing the emoji is a great way to get specific opinions on a topic.
- For example, you could post the question “How does everyone feel about tonight’s math homework?” Then, select a smiling emoji and frowning emoji to see how your friends are doing on the homework.
-
9Move your poll to the desired location. You can move the poll and change its size just like any sticker on Snapchat.
-
10Tap the stories button at the bottom of the Snap. Here, you can choose which stories to send your poll Snap to.
-
11Tap the stories you want to post to. You can choose your normal story (My Story), a Private story, or a Shared story. You can also post the Snap to the Snap Map.
- Your poll Snap can be posted to one or more stories. Tap and select multiple stories to choose where you want to post the poll.
-
12Tap the arrow button in the bottom right of the Snap story menu. This will post your Snap with your poll to the story you selected.
- You can view your current story on your profile page under the My Stories, Private Stories, or Shared Stories sections. From there, you can check for any typos and see who has viewed the Snap.
-
1Tap the profile button. It’s located in the top left of the camera, chat, or stories screen.
-
2Tap the story button with the poll. The story button is the circle with a preview of the story image.
-
3Tap the vertical three dots button. It’s in the top right of the story Snap.
-
4Tap the poll question. This will show you the current voting results of the poll.
-
5Tap the send results button. This will start the process for sharing your results. Posting the poll results is optional.
-
6Tap the stories you want to share the results to. You can post the results to multiple stories.
-
7Tap the send button to share the results. This will post the results of your poll to the stories you selected.
