Learning how to design in CAD is very fun and beneficial at school especially when your school or college have to do with Engineering or Architecture design

Preparing Software

Download a free software. Find a software that is free to start learning there are plenty of them out there. Such like Blender or AutoCAD
1. If you are not sure what software is suitable for you, can try the trial version.

Once we have the software in hand, give it a try. Try all the features, try the primitive shapes (cubes, spheres, etc), the tools and the rendering.

Try this simple mini design.
1. Create the shape (cube) many software has this feature drag and drop. Just drag the shape.
2. Move its co-ordinates move it to 0,0,0
3. Re-size it.
4. Give it a texture.
5. Render it.

Familiarize yourself with the software
1. At first just try all the feature offered. Don't afraid to try, you can always click the undo button.

Search for Tutorial. There is a lot book and webpage that offer a good tutorial.

Make sure you know the basic coordinate
1. There will be x,y,z ; @delta-x,delta-y,delta-z ; and @length < angle

If necessary learn the Shortcut. Although you can just click at the menu bar, it will be much faster when you learn the shortcut.

How can I draw a floor plan having 3 bedrooms, a kitchen, sitting room and bathrooms?

You can first draw a basic rough drawing of placement of different rooms in your floor plan and then draft it using different methods. You can see a tutorial for it. You can use basic line command or use rectangles and different tools to draft the floor plan. Also, you are not looking for a CAD software but a room planning software; for example, sweet home 3D (opensource.com/article/19/10/interior-design-sweet-home-3d), which is open source.
