Viva Piñata is a garden simulation game where you can customize your garden to your will. You can purchase items from people such as Lottie using chocolate coins. If you're low on coins, make some money following one or more of these methods.

Method 1
Method 1 of 5:

Growing Chili Seeds

  1. 1
Buy as many chili seeds you can. Place them as close to each other as possible.
  2. 2
Plant some fertilizer on them. The correct kind of fertilizer, the red fertilizer, sells for 18 coins.

Method 2
Method 2 of 5:

Attracting Whirlms

  1. 1
Get two Whirlms in your garden. They often visit the garden and automatically turn into residents after they visit.
  2. 2
Romance them. Order Willy Builder to build a Whirlm House so you can romance them by selecting one of them then selecting another Whirlm with your cursor. Then, complete the Romance minigame and collect the coins or hearts that litter the path.
  3. 3
Sell the new Whirlms after they grow up. To sell a Whirlm move your cursor over it then press the B button to go into the Sell menu.

Method 3
Method 3 of 5:

Breeding Horstachio

  1. 1
Get two Horstachios. Breed them by making them romance, then sell the newborn Horstachios after they grow up. This will make lots of money. However, the Horstachio romance challenge is very challenging, so some practice is required.
    • In Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise, if you have six or more Horstachios in your garden and you're breeding another one, if you are able to complete the challenge and collect ALL the hearts in the level without getting hit by a Loather bomb, then you may be rewarded with a "Wildcard" piñata or twin Wildcard piñatas. Wildcard piñatas are 10 times as valuable and allows you to sell it for lots of chocolate coins. However this is very challenging so if it is too hard for you, then sell off all but two of the Horstachios to reset the challenge to have five lives.
  2. 2
Use Cluckles to instantly hatch the eggs. These eggs otherwise take a long time to hatch.

  3. 3
Throw 9999 coins into the well. Watch what happens when you collect one coin.
  4. 4
Sell anything that comes out of the well.

Method 5 of 5:

Planting Venus Piñata Trap/Poison Ivy

This only works in the first game as in Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise the heads and seeds of weeds will actually cost you coins to sell them to Lottie. It is recommended that you do this in a spare garden that doesn't have any piñatas that you mind losing, as the plants can damage your piñatas and they take up space anyways.

  1. 1
Plant at least 2 Venus Piñata Trap seeds or poison ivy seeds.
  2. 2
Wait for them to grow. They take about a minute to grow.
  3. 3
Watch as they will drop seeds and flower heads. You can wait for it to die automatically or slam them with the shovel to make them drop the items immediately.
  4. 4
Sell the flower heads. You gain 360 coins per Venus Piñata head or 100 coins per poison ivy head you sell.
  5. 5
Plant the dropped seeds. Repeat the planting and selling of plants until you get the amount of chocolate coins you want.

You can use other weeds, but the Venus Piñata Trap is the most valuable and thus the quickest to use for gaining Chocolate Coins using the selling weeds method.

Warnings

  • The Sour Shellybeans will eat the poison ivy seeds so plant them quick, unless you have a Sour Shellybean blocker then you can just activate it and have them blocked from entering the garden.

  • The chill seeds will take a while to water. The watering can upgrades will help with this, especially the sixth level which lets you just pour once and it waters itself forever. Don't pour water on the seeds for long periods of time at once unless you have the fifth or sixth level as doing so will kill the plant by over watering it.

  • You need 100 coins to start with for the well or chili seeds. If you don't have 100 coins then sell a Whirlm as it goes into your garden to immediately get 100 coins.

  • The Horstachio romance challenge is very challenging, so some practice is required. This is especially challenging if you are trying for the Wildcard piñata.
