Balavah

Belavah (Persian: بلاوه), formerly Balavah Tareh-ye Sofla (Persian: بلاوه تره سفلي), also Romanized as Belāvah Tareh-ye Soflá; also known as Belāveh Tareh,[3] is a city in, and the capital of, Zagros District of Chardavol County, Ilam province, Iran.[4] The city is populated by Kurds.[5]

At the 2006 census, its population was 290 in 63 households, when it was a village in Bijnavand Rural District of the Central District.[6] The following census in 2011 counted 288 people in 76 households.[7] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 264 people in 79 households,[2] by which time the rural district had been elevated to the status of Zagros District, and the village of Balavah Tareh-ye Sofla promoted to city status.[4]
